The Information Technology (IT) Services Specialist plays a crucial role in:

  • Assisting with the transition to the new facility of the IT environment and equipment.
  • Assisting with installation and start-up of IT infrastructure, computer systems, and software.
  • Designing and delivering training on IT environment and equipment to staff
  • Keeping computer systems running smoothly and efficiently.
  • Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining hardware and software components for efficient system operation.
  • Working with other departments to ensure all services and activities offered by Isuarsivik are culturally relevant and safe.

Purpose of position

Under the direction of the Administration Manager, the IT Services Specialist provides IT support to all employees needing assistance and manages a variety of technology systems and equipment. They will be the first point of contact for IT support within the organization.

Essential duties
and responsibilities

Technical Skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer networks (DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of traditional and IP telephony systems
  • Skills in troubleshooting different systems and their applications, including:
    • Windows Server 2012, 2016, and 2019 maintenance and application
    • Windows 10 operating system and application
    • IP network and routing
    • Wireless network
    • Computer hardware
    • Security and firewall
Communication and Support Skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proactive and versatile, with a strong sense of initiative
  • Ability to foster trust and build strong relationships
  • Capacity to adapt quickly and frequently to changing priorities
  • Ability to work in a team and independently


  • College diploma in Information Technology (IT), or equivalent experience (an asset);
  • IT vocational training (an asset).
Work experience
  • Two (2) years of experience in a similar role.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to develop expertise and maintain strong analytic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Discretion and confidentiality.
  • Personal and professional experience in a cross-cultural setting.
  • Strong ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Ability to work outside standard office hours.
  • Willingness to submit to a criminal record check.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Inuktitut as well as English (mandatory).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak French (an asset)é

Salary / Benefits
