Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre offers culturally responsive services that support the collective healing of Nunavimmiut and their loved ones facing trauma and addiction in Kuujjuaq, across communities, and beyond. The Centre focuses on reclaiming cultural identity as the foundation for healing, drawing on Inuit ancestral knowledge alongside modern care models such as motivational, psychoeducational, and emotionally-focused therapy.
At Isuarsivik, the Finance Department manages the organization’s money to ensure financial stability and sustainability. The team provides guidance, support and expertise with financial planning and budgeting, cash-flow management, payroll and compensation administration, payment of expenses, as well as financial controls and compliance.
In this context, the Accounting Technician plays an important role in supporting the Coordinator of Finance with day-to-day accounting tasks. The Accounting Technician is a committed and detail-oriented individual with a strong sense of organization, who is able to meet weekly deadlines and follow established procedures.
Purpose of position
Under the direction of the Coordinator of Finances, the Accounting Technician is responsible for supporting the finance team by managing payroll processes, government remittances, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role ensures compliance with tax regulations and provides essential support for accounting operations.
Essential duties
and responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on time.
- Ensure all deductions and remittances are calculated and submitted correctly.
- Prepare and file GST/HST returns and payroll deductions.
- Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations.
- Maintain accurate records for tax reporting and audit purposes.
- Organize documentation for internal and external audits.
- Perform bank reconciliations regularly.
- Assist the Coordinator of Finances with journal entries and month-end closing.
- Reconcile specific general ledger accounts.
- Perform variance analysis and provide insights to management.
- Provide support to the accounting clerk as needed.
- Collaborate with the finance team to resolve discrepancies.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the Coordinator.
Qualifications
Education
- Technical Diploma in accounting or related field.
Work experience
- More than 3 years of experience in a similar role.

- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

Language
- Ability to read, write, and speak English (mandatory).
- Ability to read, write, and speak Inuktitut and French (an asset).
