The Coordinator – Community Services plays a crucial role in:
- Overall development and implementation of community services (programs, roll-out of services in new communities and remote care).
- Managing and developing the Cultural Facilitators.
- Establishing wellness and safety practices to foster a positive and empowering workplace for all.
Purpose of position
Under the direction of the Continued Care Manager, the Coordinator – Community Services is responsible for the overall development and implementation of services throughout the region of Nunavik.
Essential duties
and responsibilities
Management
- Supervise and support Cultural Facilitators in the day-to-day delivery of services.
- Manage the day-to-day functioning of all regional offices and support program.
- Supervise activities and support groups within the institutions.
- Keep statistics on program participation.
- Liaise with managers of partner’s organizations to ensure proper coordination and integration of services at the community and regional levels.
Planning
- Assist in the creation of a pre and aftercare program for the region.
- Ensure that all guests documentation and files are kept up to date and secure.
- Ensure guest files and information are kept confidential and secure.
- Ensure guest files are transferred to the appropriate sub-department within the Continued Care Department.
- Provide of guest documentation for the purpose advocacy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- University degree in a discipline of social intervention
- Relevant training in counselling.
Work experience
- 5-8 years of experience in social intervention or counselling.
- 2-5 years of experience managing a counselling team.
- Experience in management or leadership roles is considered an asset.
Knowledge and Skills
- Basic computing skills.
- Advanced facilitation skills.
- Ability to work in a team and autonomously.
- Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality.
- Self-reliant, good problem solver and results oriented.
- Personal and professional experience in a cross-cultural setting.Candidate must be willing to submit to a criminal records check
Language
- Ability to read, write and speak Inuktitut as well as English are mandatory.

- Employment in Kuujjuaq with regular presence at the Centre.
