In this context, the Culture Liaison Worker serves as a key resource for sharing knowledge related to Inuit culture, particularly in supporting the integration of employees from outside the region into the Isuarsivik team. The Culture Liaison Worker fosters cultural connections with organizations and activities within the region and beyond, and plays a central role in promoting Inuit values, practices, and ways of being throughout Isuarsivik.

Purpose of position

Under the supervision of the HR Manager, the Culture Liaison Worker supports the HR team by participating in selected interviews, conducting reference checks, following up with candidates, maintaining employee records, taking meeting notes, and assisting with various administrative tasks related to HR operations.

Essential duties
and responsibilities

  • Assist in developing cultural orientation sessions for newly hired non-Inuit employees.
  • Participate in interview panels to provide cultural context and support when interviewing Inuit candidates.
  • Represent Isuarsivik in gatherings and meetings about HR practices and activities.
  • Assist in creating resources (guides, materials, presentations) to help employees understand Inuit ways, values, protocols, and community life in Kuujjuaq.
  • Support the recruitment team by promoting open positions within the community through local networks, community gatherings, and social media, helping to prioritize Inuit hiring.
  • Sit on the Employee Wellness Committee, helping to develop and promote culturally grounded wellness initiatives that support the well-being of all staff.
  • Attend job fairs and community events with the HR team to showcase Isuarsivik’s mission, values, and the richness of Inuit culture to prospective candidates.
  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned by the HR Manager.

Qualifications

Education
  • Completed high school diploma.
Work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in administration or human resources.
  • Personal and professional experience of employee relations in a cross-cultural setting (an asset).
Knowledge and Skills
  • Compassion, optimism, and agility.

  • Strong ethical and moral compass.
  • Ability to work and organize complex tasks independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
  • Willingness to submit to a criminal records check.
Language
  • Ability to read, write, and speak both Inuktitut and English (mandatory).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak French (an asset)
