Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre offers culturally responsive services that support the collective healing of Nunavimmiut and their loved ones facing trauma and addiction in Kuujjuaq and across communities. The Centre focuses on reclaiming cultural identity as the foundation for healing, drawing on Inuit ancestral knowledge alongside modern care models such as motivational, psychoeducational, and emotionally-focused therapy.
Isuarsivik places great importance on meaningful communication, both within the organization and with the communities of Nunavik. Purpose of position
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communication Coordinator leads internal and external communication actions to support departments in the deployment of their various projects and to promote the Centre’s services. The Communication Coordinator also engages, nurtures, and scales relationships with Isuarsivik’s stakeholders, guests, employees, and the general population.
Essential duties
and responsibilities
- Support the development of Isuarsivik’s yearly communication strategy, action plan, and budget.
- Prepare various print documents (brochures, leaflets, corporate folders, letters, annual reports, etc.).
- Initiate and maintain contact with the media, and respond to general inquiries.
- Regularly update the website and other online tools.
- Write compelling social media content to position the organization and build engagement with Isuarsivik’s stakeholders.
- Plan the Centre’s gatherings and activities for staff and general operations.
- Plan and coordinate various tasks for new projects according to the requests, deadlines, and budgets previously established.
- Ensure follow-ups and updates of the project schedule to meet objectives.
- Perform various project monitoring tasks and complete the associated reporting (actions, strategy, actual and expected costs, schedules, deliverables, and others).
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma.
- Post-secondary education in Communication, Project Management, Administration or related field is considered an asset.
Work experience
- 3–5 years of experience in communication, community engagement or event planning.
Knowledge and Skills
- Compassion, optimism, and agility.
- Strong creativity. – Passion for project planning.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to use online tools such as MS Project, CANVA, Acrobat Pro, etc.
- Ability to work and organize complex tasks independently.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
- Willingness to submit to a criminal records check.
Language
- Ability to read, write, and speak English (mandatory).
- Ability to read, write, and speak Inuktitut and French (an asset).
Work environment
- Remote employment with travel to Kuujjuaq 3–4 times per year.
