The Clinical Supervisor plays a crucial role for all program services departments in:

  • Supporting the improvement of the quality of clinical services provided by Isuarsivik.
  • Supporting the professional development of members of the Recovery, Inuit Values and Practices and Continued Care Services teams.

Purpose of position

Under the direction of the Director of Programs, the Clinical Supervisor is responsible for supporting the improvement of the quality of clinical services provided by Isuarsivik and supporting the Program Services teams.

Essential duties
and responsibilities

Management (Recovery, Continued Care, and Inuit Values and Practices Departments)

Through teleconference and regular in-person visits at the Centre, the primary mandate of the clinical supervisor is to:

  • Provide clinical guidance/support to clinical staff.
  • Support counsellors in designing intervention plans.
  • Ensure assessments and interventions are based on best practices.
  • Support professional development for clinical staff.
  • Evaluate the services offered by the departments and support the implementation of necessary changes to meet the guests’ needs.

Qualifications

Education
  • University degree in a discipline of social intervention.
  • Specialization in addictions or clinical supervision (an asset).
Work experience
  • 5 years in a clinical supervisor role.
  • 10 years as a clinician in the field.
  • Experience as a manager (an asset).
  • Experience in an inpatient recovery facility.
  • Experience as a leader of an organization which experienced major growth or significant transformation (an asset).
  • Significant work experience in Nunavik or another indigenous context (an asset).
Knowledge and Skills
  • Understanding of the Isuarsivik’s mission and mandate.
  • Ability to mentor teams and managers in a cross-cultural context.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to communicate professionally with Board members, staff, proponents, and the general public.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills including the ability to use tact and diplomacy and work under pressure.
  • Able to use all standard office equipment including a computer, a projector and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to promote and maintain a healthy lifestyle in the community.
  • Willingness to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism.
Language
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Inuktitut as well as English (mandatory).
  • Ability to read, write and speak French (an asset).

Work environment

  • Isuarsivik is undergoing a major transition that requires flexibility, creativity, and adaptability.
  • The incumbent must balance multiple demands and urgent requests from guests, staff, and partners.
  • The incumbent must also be prepared to meet the personal and professional challenges associated with living in a northern, isolated community with limited resources.

Salary / Benefits

  • Working conditions are based on Nunavik’s health and social services network.
  • Salary will be determined depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Probation period.
  • Mentorship or training program available (if requirements are not met).

It is the Centre’s objective to favor and promote the employment of beneficiaries from one of the Inuit land claims agreements. Therefore, it is at the discretion of the Board to waive any of the qualification requirements and implement a training or mentoring plan if necessary.
