Accreditation Canada

Accreditation Canada is an independent, not-for-profit organization that sets standards built upon best practices used and validated by health and social services organizations around the world.

Granted in 2017 with the Accreditation Primer Award, Isuarsivik has followed a comprehensive self-assessment in May 2019. Thus, external peer surveyors conducted an on-site survey at the Centre during which they assessed Isuarsivik’s leadership, governance, clinical programs and services against Accreditation Canada requirements for quality and safety. These requirements include national standards of excellence, required safety practices to reduce potential harm; and questionnaires to assess the work environment, guest safety culture, governance functioning and guest experience.

In 2019, Isuarsivik completed Accreditation Canada’s process successfully and acquired the Qmentum International Accreditation.

It is the first time in history that a health and social services organization in Nunavik has received this honorable distinction that highlights best practices in terms of quality and safety standards of excellence.

The Award of Excellence from the Quebec Government’s Health and Social Services Ministry

In late 2021, the Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre received the Award of Excellence 2020, Ministers’ Choice Distinction, Community Organizations Network. Each year, the Ministry of Health and Social Services of Quebec (MSSS) recognizes the exceptional contribution of organizations from the health and community sector by presenting Awards of Excellence. The most respected award is the Ministers’ Choice Distinction, Community Organizations Network, which was awarded to Isuarsivik this year. This first-time accomplishment for a Nunavik organization was celebrated on December 10 during an intimate ceremony respecting regional sanitary measures. The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS) was mandated to present the award Isuarsivik on the behalf of the MSSS.

Quebec Ministry of Public Security

In 2019, the Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre has been granted official certification by the Quebec Ministry of Public Security. Isuarsivik is now listed amongst 40 organizations recognized by Quebec correctional services as offering addictions services and inpatient programs. This long-awaited accreditation is one more step in positioning the Centre as a recognized and specialized institution in the region. From now on, probation officers and detention centres across the province can refer potential guests to the Centre.
